Million Trees for Norfolk

Tree planting in the Parish

See Burston and Shimpling Community Group  for pictures from the Audley End hedge planting on the 12th February – many thanks to those who braved the chilly weather.

The latest phase of the Parish Council’s involvement in the Million Trees for Norfolk project took place last Saturday 5th February, in Shimpling when over 100 trees were planted alongside the public footpath leading up to St George’s Church.

Volunteers from within the parish helped plant a selection of fruit and copse trees including apples, pears, plums which will, in years to come, provide passers-by with free fruit to pick. So far, the council has organised the planting by members of the local community of over 600 trees in the parish all donated free by The Woodland Trust, Eforests and Norfolk County Council and we have a further 300 still to go mostly in new hedgerows and road side planting.
