Freedom of Information Act - Publication Scheme
The Freedom of Information Act deals with access to official information. In addition there are also regulations which provide access to environmental information. These are known as the Environmental Information Regulations.
The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is the UK’s independent authority set up to uphold information rights in the public interest, promoting openness by public bodies and data privacy for individuals. The Freedom of Information Act applies to most public authorities. It also applies to companies which are wholly owned by public authorities.
A publication scheme sets out the kinds of information that a public authority should make routinely available. The information should be easy for the authority and any individual to find and use.
Burston and Shimpling Parish Council use the model publication scheme for public authorities available here on on the ICO website
For more details about the Freedom of Information Act please see the ICO website
