High Blood Pressure?
A new charity has been set-up by local resident and retired

The Global Chronic Hypertension Society has a world wide reach and invites people to get involved if they want to interact with others to compare notes about the problems associated with high blood pressure. Power cut? Call 105 Power cut? Call 105
105 is the new number to call if you have a power cut. It’s free of charge and will put you through to your local electricity network operator who can give you help and advice
Many people don’t know they should contact their local electricity network operator if they have a power cut. They often mistakenly call the electricity supplier they pay their bills to.
That’s why the electricity network operators have introduced 105 – to give you an easy-to-remember number to call that will put you through to the local people who can help.
Customers who live in London, the South East and East of England can still call us on 0800 31 63 105, free from a mobile or landline phone.

Burston Crown Burston Crown
The Burston Crown is situated in the picturesque village of Burston in Norfolk. A perfect setting for a wonderful eating and drinking experience.

Built in 1580, the open fireplaces, beams and large beer garden are the ideal place to sample chef Steve's fantastic cuisine. The Crown can offer a cosy lounge bar, a public bar with a pool table and a separate restaurant – so whether you are with your children, a large group of friends or relaxing after a dog walk – the Burston Crown can provide you with a wonderful place to unwind.

Steve's foundation as a rock 'n' roll touring chef for the likes of U2, Bruce Springsteen and many more celebrities has enabled him to learn from travelling around the globe and bring his culinary experience and diversity to Burston.

Passionate about only using where possible, local fresh produce – Steve has created a gorgeous, all home-cooked bar menu that compliments his constantly changing à la carte menu.

Whilst enjoying the fabulous flavours of Steve's food, allow Bev, Jonj and Frances who head the front-of-house team, to look after your every need at the Burston Crown. We can cater for all individuals should you need a buffet, a personalised menu or a B.B.Q. in the garden.

The Burston Crown is a busy village pub bringing people from all over Norfolk and Suffolk to enjoy great food and great music. It has been a busy year for us. We have music gigs every Thursdays and most Sundays and it is great to support a vibrant East Anglian music scene.
Our focus it to support musicians who play original material, and it never ceases to amaze us how many talented musicians there are. Musicians praise the quality of the sound provided by sound engineer Billy Fleming from Burston, via Scotland! We have continued to support charity fundraising, and this year have focussed on mental health charities for local young people seeking to replace support services that sadly have been reduced.
In May we launched our first ever Arts Fest featuring theatre, poetry and music and this has been supported by Creative Arts East. We aim to build on this in coming years to make the village a centre for arts in South Norfolk.
We have events that are being planned for summer; so like us on Facebook and we will keep you up to date with all that is happening.
All events at The Burston Crown are free to enter so come and enjoy yourself

Fredrick's Fine Foods Fredrick's Fine Foods
Did you know that we had a Michelin starred chef living in our Parish? You probably did, I didn't, although having tasted the delicious chilli made by Freddie Jones for the recent St George's supper in St Mary's Church, perhaps I should have guessed!

Freddie and Linda, who live in Burston, have started a new concept in food shopping. Their shop,Fredricks Fine Foods in Norfolk House Courtyard, Diss is open plan, with everything being cooked in front of the customer. The food, sourced from local producers, can be purchased in individual portions or ordered to cater for larger functions. The idea is to offer an opportunity to enjoy fine dining without all the hard work. They are happy to cater for all tastes, from canapes to banquets!

For summer, Freddie and Linda have started a salad bar and are planning barbeque food ready marinated in tasty sauces for you to cook at home. And for those with a sweet tooth, there is a delicious range of patisserie and desserts. Fredricks also have a good selection of wines, all of which are chosen to compliment their foods.

Lime Tree Cattery Lime Tree Cattery
Like many farmers Darren and Hayley decided to diversify when they found pig production was no longer a viable enterprise. It was their love of cats that prompted their decision to open a cattery and now they have a purpose built unit at the bottom of their garden designed and built by RSPCA approved craftsmen. Hayley and Darren, together with their family, also had a large involvement in construction with office space and fencing completing the layout of the well-designed unit. The picture show them on their open-day when they welcomed many interested potential customers to have a look around.

Hayley can be contacted by tel. 01379 741933 or 07792 578338 or by email
or see the website Lime Tree Cattery.
